  • Fork & Brewer Beer Tasting Review
Posted on Monday 30th April 2012

Review by Lucy O’Neill, WYP Committee-Social events.

For someone who doesn’t like beer, well… I’ll be honest, I thought I ‘hated’ beer…. I was wondering how much of the stuff I would drink at the WYP beer tasting evening at the Fork and Brewer last Thursday.

We were lucky to be hosted by Andrew Childs, an up and coming Wellington beer brewer. Andrew who works as a bartender at the Fork and Brewer pub, is incredibly passionate about beer; whether it’s drinking it, brewing it, talking to other like-minded brewers about it, researching about it, or luckily for us, serving it.
It was great to see a few keen beer drinkers joining us for a few post-work drinks before the night kicked off. I started the night off with a delicious Weka cider to line my stomach with some sweet goodness before I attempted my first beer…

  • A Successful Toastmasters Evening
Posted on Sunday 25th March 2012

A big thank you to everyone who came along to our WYP-Toastmasters event. We had a great evening and we hope you did too.

The evening kicked off with some brainstorming as to what everyone was hoping to achieve – great public speakers know that it’s always a good idea to find out what your audience really wants! There were some excellent and thought-provoking questions put forward for discussion on how to break through those public speaking issues that so many of us have. Everyone also compared notes on great presentations we have seen…and the not so great ones.
